How to Cruise with Kids

My extended family and myself have travelled several times with babies and kids. Either with their own kids or those of other family members. Through experience I can say it takes some planning especially for the very little ones.

One cousin in particular took everything under the sun with her onboard a cruise ship for her baby. She wanted to make sure baby was comfortable. However she admitted it was rather awkward boarding and disembarking at the end of the journey. Additionally you do not need to go overboard (pardon the pun!) because cruise ships do supply several things.

With young and older kids, the best thing to do is keep them entertained so they will not get bored. So it is important to pick the right cruise that has activities they will enjoy and keep them occupied. Like this you will be able to relax and enjoy your cruise with your family.

Tips and Suggestions

A cruise is fantastic to travel on. Everything is organised for you from start to finish, all you need to do is pick what you want. Like your room, excursions, the time slot you would like to have dinner etc.

If you have a baby, having a cruise terminal in your own home country is definitely a big plus. In fact it is one of the reasons why my sister decided to travel on a cruise with hers.

This is especially the case if you happen to have a boisterous little one. You may get discouraged to travel with a baby on a flight for this reason. However a cruise is easier to manage your little one.

Another thing is that it’s better to take babies with you when they have not started walking. Otherwise they might walk off while you are on excursions. Then it might turn into a cat and mouse game of run away from the parent!

Alternatively if your baby does not experience separation anxiety you can drop them off at the cruise nursery. There are professionals that will take care of your little ones needs. it is at an additional cost, but it is something you could consider for several hours.

If you cruise with kids it should be a little easier. Additionally there will be more things they can enjoy apart from activities at the nursery.

Hi! I’m Erika and I’m from Malta. In 2018 I was tasked to organise a family trip to nearby Sicily, but I found it hard to find kids activities for the trip. This is why I started this site and hope you can find the information you need for your holiday.
